About Colchester Vermont
Colchester, Vermont is located approximately three miles north of Burlington. It lies on Lake Champlain and includes the beautiful natural harbor of Mallets Bay. The town was settled in 1763 by Ethan and Ira Allen; Ira Allen was the first town clerk.
Business
Colchester is home to a number of wholesale suppliers and manufacturers. Jordan’s foods, Coca Cola Bottling Company, Northeast Marine Company, and Reliance Steel are located in the town. St. Michael’s College, a four year liberal arts college, is also located in Colchester, minutes from downtown Burlington. It is a small college with a beautiful campus and views of the Green Mountains to the east.
Recreation
Colchester Parks and Recreation offers a variety of programs for all ages. They offer summer camps for every child’s interests; such as, sailing, tennis, soccer, basketball, extreme adventure camp, field hockey, football, lacrosse, and skateboarding. Colchester also offers specialty camps which include: pirate camp, bug camp, film camp, theatre camp, art camp and woods, water and wildlife camp. The camps range in age groups from 4 – 6, and 6 – 12. In addition to a number of camps, the town of Colchester offers (ACE) Active, Creative, Enrichment program for children before and after school. This program entertains and stimulates children’s creative side while their parents are at work.
